Stiffness or limited movement: You may find it difficult to bend, twist, or straighten your back due to tight muscles or joint issues, limiting your range of motion.
Pain that worsens with bending, lifting, or sitting for long periods: Certain activities, especially those involving bending over, heavy lifting, or staying seated for a long time, can exacerbate the pain.
Muscle spasms: Muscles in the lower back can tighten or spasm, causing sharp, sudden pain. These spasms often result from muscle strain or overuse.
Pain radiating to the hips, legs, or buttocks: In some cases, the pain can extend down from the lower back into the hips, buttocks, and even legs, often due to nerve irritation or herniated discs.
Numbness or tingling in the legs: When nerves in the lower back are compressed or irritated (like with sciatica), it can lead to sensations of numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs.

Limitations of Medication Therapy

Invasive Procedures and Risks: Surgical options like spinal fusion or discectomy carry risks of complications, long recovery times, and may not always provide lasting pain relief. Invasive treatments are generally considered only after conservative options have failed.
Limited Effectiveness for Chronic Pain:
Many treatments, such as medications (e.g., NSAIDs, opioids) and physical therapy, may not be effective for long-term relief or for chronic low back pain. In some cases, pain may return or persist despite treatment.
Potential Side Effects:
Medications, especially opioids, can cause side effects such as gastrointestinal issues, dependence, tolerance, and addiction. Long-term use of NSAIDs can also result in kidney or stomach issues.
Over-Reliance on Medications:
Some treatments focus on symptom management (e.g., pain relief) rather than addressing the underlying cause of the low back pain. This can lead to a cycle of temporary relief without long-term resolution.
