Limitations of Medication Therapy

- Not ideal for: Women who want to preserve fertility because these medications can suppress ovulation and menstruation.
- Myomectomy (removal of fibroids):
- Limitation: A major surgery with a significant recovery period. Though it preserves the uterus, fibroids may return over time, requiring further procedures.
- Not ideal for: Women with multiple or large fibroids.
- Endometrial Ablation (removal of the uterine lining):
- Limitation: Effective for controlling heavy bleeding but does not treat the fibroids themselves. It is also not an option for women who wish to maintain fertility.
- Not ideal for: Women who still wish to conceive.
- Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE):
- Limitation: This procedure reduces blood supply to fibroids, causing them to shrink. However, it may cause severe pelvic pain, risk of infection, or early menopause, and fibroids may regrow.
